[TechWeb] News on January 10, Wenyuan Zhixing recently announced that its self-driving minibus has officially started test operations at Zurich Airport.
This is also the first commercially implemented airport self-driving minibus project in Europe.
According to the plan, Wenyuan Minibus’s connection service at Zurich Airport will be officially put into operation in the first quarter of 2025.
, It is reported that each Wenyuan minibus arriving at Zurich Airport can accommodate up to 9 passengers, complementing the existing shuttle bus lines serving employees of various companies in the airport and providing them with more convenient commuting services.
This operation route covers multiple stations in the non-taxiing area within the airport and is completely independent of the airport’s flight operation area.
It is the best test route for driverless driving applications at the airport, while ensuring the safety and independence of the operation.
, In the early stages of the project, Wenyuan Minibus will be equipped with an in-vehicle safety officer to monitor the stable operation of the vehicle.
Based on the operating performance at this stage, the project will enter a purely unmanned operation mode with remote monitoring without safety officers in the vehicle.
