US officials require Tesla to disclose smart driving data or impose a maximum fine of 980 million yuan

Fast Technology May 8 news, according to domestic media reports, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) is putting pressure on Tesla.

Tesla is required to provide the regulator with detailed information about Autopilot by July 1, or face a fine of up to $135.

8 million (980 million yuan).

It is reported that NHTSA public documents show that after conducting a three-year investigation, Tesla Autopilot’s safety problems led to at least 467 crashes and 14 deaths from January 2018 to August 2023.

NHTSA concluded that drivers involved in these accidents were not fully focused on driving and that the warnings issued by Autopilot when enabling autopilot did not fully ensure that drivers would focus on driving tasks.

In December last year, Tesla announced a recall of 2031220 vehicles equipped with driving assistance software through OTA due to hidden dangers of autopilot.

After Tesla’s recall, NHTSA repeatedly asked Tesla to provide more detailed crash data, including data and videos stored in or transmitted from the car and retained by the company.

At present, Tesla has not made a response to this.
