After Tesla announced that it would lay off 10% of its staff worldwide, two of the company’s executives, Drew Baglino and Rohan Patel, also announced their departure.
Baglino, one of Tesla’s earliest employees, has been with the company for 18 years and worked closely with Tesla’s co-founder and former CTO JB Straubel.
At the time, he was actually Tesla’s highest-level engineering director, responsible for batteries, motors, drives, power electronics and energy products– arguably the core of Tesla’s business.
His most recent position is the company’s senior vice president of powertrain and energy engineering, reporting directly to Musk.

Patel joined Tesla in 2016 after serving as a senior adviser to former US President Barack Obama on climate and energy issues.
He also said on Twitter: “Tesla’s past eight years have been full of all kinds of emotions, but I feel very grateful today.
” I am honored to be able to work in Tesla and actively change many industries.
” Musk thanked Baglino and Patel for their past hard work on Twitter.
In fact, although Baglino and Patel did not explain the reasons for leaving, whether in support of those employees who were fired or for other reasons, their departure should be a huge blow to Tesla’s leadership and the morale of the company to some extent.
If Tesla starts to lose talent, it will become a real problem.
Because the company’s ability to attract and retain top talent has always been its greatest advantage.
