According to Nikkei business daily, Japanese automaker Toyota Motor plans to build an electric vehicle battery factory in the southwestern part of Fukuoka Prefecture of the country and supply batteries to a factory that produces Lexus luxury brand cars.

, According to Nikkei, Toyota Motor has not yet finalized the amount of money it will spend on the Fukuoka battery factory and the start date of the factory.
But the newspaper said the Fukuoka battery factory would be operated by Primearth EV Energy, another Toyota subsidiary.
This subsidiary specializes in producing batteries for hybrid vehicles, plug-in hybrid vehicles and pure electric vehicles.
, In response to the report, a Toyota spokesperson said the company had taken note of the report, but it was not what the company announced.
The spokesperson also said that Toyota Motor has been taking various measures to strengthen its electric vehicle battery production capacity.
Toyota currently produces Lexus cars at its subsidiary Toyota Motor Kyushu’s Miyata plant.
Toyota Motor has previously stated that it will launch electric vehicles using next-generation batteries around the world starting in 2026, manufactured by its electric vehicle-focused division BEV Factory.
