The University of Texas at Austin develops stretchable electronic skin to give robots human-level touch sensitivity

According to foreign media reports, researchers at The University of Texas at Austin have developed for the first time elastic electronic skin that can provide robots and other devices with the same softness and tactile sensitivity as human skin, thereby opening up new possibilities for performing tasks that require very precision and control.

Existing electronic skin technology loses sensing accuracy as the material stretches, but this new stretchable electronic skin will not happen, solving the main bottleneck of this emerging technology.

Research leader Professor Nanshu Lu said: “Just as human skin must stretch and bend to adapt to our movements, so does electronic skin.

No matter how you stretch and stretch, the pressure response of this electronic skin will not change.

This is an important development.
