The RISC-V vehicle specification MCU jointly developed by Great Wall was successfully lit up

Recently, Great Wall Motors announced that its jointly developed RISC-V vehicle-level MCU chip-Bauhinia M100-has completed research and development and has been successfully lit up.

Regarding this breakthrough, Wei Jianjun, chairman of Great Wall Motors, said,”The Bauhinia M100 chip is not only the first vehicle-level chip developed based on the ‘RISC-V’ architecture in China, but also the first technical chip cultivated by Great Wall Motors.

Relying on the open source architecture not only avoids restrictions by European and American technologies, but also ensures the possibility of architecture expansion.

“, It is understood that the Bauhinia M100 adopts a modular concept in design and the core is reconfigurable.

The 4-level pipeline design allows it to have faster processing speed and less time consuming, and at the same time facilitates future upgrades and expansion.

Not only that, the Bauhinia M100 also meets functional safety ASIL-B level requirements, supports national secrets, and complies with ISO21434 network information security standards.

In recent years, with the rapid development of smart electric vehicles, the demand for vehicle-level chips has continued to increase significantly.

As early as October 2021, Great Wall Motors established a professional team dedicated to the research and development of power semiconductor technology.

, and officially established a power semiconductor module packaging and testing company-Wuxi Xiandong Semiconductor Technology Co., Ltd. in November 2022, focusing on the research and development and innovation of Si IGBT and SiC MOS.

In November 2023, the 750V/820A IGBT power module on the GFM platform independently developed by Core Dynamics Semiconductor was successfully installed, realizing large-scale application in the main drive controller of new energy vehicles for the first time.

Not only that, Core Motion Semiconductor has also signed cooperation agreements with Bosch Automotive Electronics and STMicroelectronics to better promote the steady development of Core Motion Semiconductor’s SiC business.

Great Wall Motors pointed out that the Bauhinia M100 lit up this time is not only an important achievement of Great Wall Motors ‘”integration of software and hardware” intelligent strategy, but will also build an important cornerstone for future innovative applications such as intelligent driving and smart cockpits.
