In addition, local brands have also performed well among the top 10 brands with FOTA functions.

Brands such as BYD, Geely, ideal and Chery not only actively introduce FOTA functions, but also achieve the popularity of high penetration, among which BYD’s FOTA functional models have a penetration rate as high as 95.8%. FOTA function, as a key means of vehicle “self-evolution”, can update vehicle software remotely and enhance user experience.

The outstanding performance of local brands in this field further proves their profound strength and positive attitude in promoting cockpit networking.

In the field of automotive Smart Internet, Huawei HiCar and Apple CarPlay are undoubtedly two major systems that have attracted much attention, both of which are committed to bringing users a convenient automotive Smart Internet experience, but there are some differences in connection mode, application ecology, voice assistant, integration with vehicles, personalized customization and applicable models.

According to the data, CarPlay is still the mainstream solution for mobile car interconnection, and its permeability continues to stabilize at more than 30%.

At the same time, the penetration rate of Huawei HiCar shows a rising trend.

With its accurate insight into the demand of the domestic passenger car market, HiCar has achieved a significant increase in penetration in a short period of time, especially in Chinese brand models, showing its strong momentum and wide recognition in the domestic market.

The rapid penetration of new energy vehicles promotes the evolution of on-board communication modules to integration.

New energy vehicle brands such as BYD and Tesla led the change, choosing to integrate communication modules into vehicle control units, domain controllers and other components.

This design not only optimizes the overall layout, reduces the number of electronic control units (ECU), but also reduces the complexity and manufacturing cost of the vehicle system, and improves the reliability and maintainability of the system.

From the perspective of data, this trend is particularly obvious.

From January to October 2023, integrated modules accounted for only 19 per cent of installed capacity, while T-BOX accounted for 81 per cent.

However, in the same period in 2024, the proportion of integrated modules increased significantly to 28% and the proportion of the integrated modules decreased to 72%.
