According to foreign media reports, due to declining interest from automakers and consumers, the 2025 Geneva Motor Show will no longer be held, and will be the same in the next few years.
, The exhibition organizing committee decided to cancel the Geneva Motor Show, citing “many uncertainties in the automotive industry and the declining appeal of major European exhibitions.
” The Geneva Motor Show began in 1905 and attracted more than 120 exhibitors during its peak period.
However, from 2020 to 2023, affected by the COVID-19 epidemic, the Geneva Motor Show was forced to cancel for four consecutive years and was eventually re-held in 2024.
However, major automakers from Europe, the United States and Asia were absent from this exhibition, including Volkswagen Group, Stellantis Group, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Toyota, Hyundai and Ford.
Only the major European automakers, Renault Group (including its Renault and Dacia brands) participated in the Geneva Motor Show.
This has attracted a lot of attention at the show for Chinese automakers that are entering Europe, including BYD and MG, a subsidiary of SAIC Motor Group.
Among other large car shows in France and Germany, the Geneva Motor Show is seen as a neutral place for European carmakers.
In previous years, the Geneva Motor Show attracted more than 500,000 spectators, but from February 26 to March 3, 2024, only 168,000 spectators attended the Geneva Motor Show, far less than the 200,000 expected by organizations and local governments.

” However, the organizing committee said that the Swiss auto show will not resume.
Alexandre de Senarclens, chairman of the foundation that organizes the Geneva Motor Show, said that considering the overall situation of the industry, the lack of interest among automakers in the Geneva Motor Show, the competition caused by the strong support of local car companies in Paris and Munich Motor Show, and the high cost of maintaining such a large car show has made hosting the Geneva Motor Show unsustainable.
In the future, the foundation will also be disbanded.
The next European Motor Show will be held in Paris from October 14 to 20, 2024.
Brands expected to attend include Renault Group, Stellantis Group’s Peugeot, Citroen and Alfa Romeo brands, BMW Group and China’s Xiaopeng Motors.
