Tesla Cybertruck production head leaves

According to foreign media reports, Renjie Zhu, head of Tesla’s Cybertruck production, has resigned.

It is not clear whether his departure was the result of a new round of layoffs or whether he offered to leave.

In the past month, Tesla has made many large-scale layoffs throughout the company.

At least 10 per cent of Tesla’s employees have been laid off, and foreign media reports say as many as 20 per cent may eventually be laid off.

Tesla’s car business, which includes charging and electric car production, as well as new product launches, has been the hardest hit, as Elon Musk appears to be leading Tesla’s transformation from focusing on electric car manufacturing to focusing on self-driving products.

After successfully launching the epic Cybertruck project over the past 16 months and boosting its weekly production to a steady 1000 vehicles, my adventure with this great company is finally over, he announced on LinkedIn.

Renjie Zhu has worked in Tesla for more than five years.

He was in charge of the production line operation of the Model 3 and Model Y at Tesla’s Shanghai Super Factory, both of which have achieved great success in the Chinese market.

In 2023, he transferred to Tesla Austin (Austin) super factory.

Prior to that, Zhu Xiaotong was appointed to be in charge of Tesla’s entire automotive business, with the goal of replicating Tesla’s successful experience in Shanghai at a North American plant.
