Liquid battery to solid-state battery needs to improve energy density and safety performance by changing chemical materials, but it is not easy in terms of technology, cost and manufacturing process.

On April 2, Tailan New Energy announced that the company had made great progress in the research and development of “automotive specification grade all-solid-state lithium battery” and successfully produced the world’s first automotive gauge-grade all-solid-state lithium battery with ultra-high energy density 120Ah and measured energy density up to 720Wh/kg, setting a new industry record for the monomer capacity and highest energy density of styled lithium battery.
On April 5th, the German Association for the Promotion of Sustainable Physics Technology announced that after nearly two years of research and development, the German team of experts has invented a full set of automatic continuous production process for high-performance and high-safety solid-state sodium-sulfur batteries, which can make the energy density of the battery exceed 1000Wh/kg and the theoretical loading capacity of the negative electrode up to 20000Wh/kg.
In addition, from late April to now, leading New Energy and Enli Power have successively put into production the first phase of the Guanxuan solid-state battery project, and according to the latter’s previous planning, it will achieve mass production of the 10GWh production line in 2026, and strive to achieve the global industrial base layout of 100+GWh by 2030.

Compared with liquid batteries, solid-state batteries have attracted much attention because they have many significant advantages, such as high energy density, high safety, small size, wide temperature range and so on.
According to the content of liquid electrolyte, some people in the industry have made a clearer distinction between solid-state batteries.
According to the industry, the development path of solid-state battery can be divided into semi-solid (5-10wt%), quasi-solid (0-5wt%) and all-solid (0wt%), in which the electrolytes used in semi-solid and quasi-solid are mixed solid-liquid electrolytes.
