According to foreign media reports, Porsche cooperated with ClearMotion to verify the American start-up’s active suspension technology and road reading software, and signed a technical license agreement.
Zack Anderson, ClearMotion’s chief technology officer, declined to say which Porsche models the company’s technology would be used in, but said the technology could be used in any electric or internal combustion engine model and that automakers did not need to redesign their vehicles.
On April 9th, Ingo Albers, Porsche’s vice president of drive systems, said in a statement: “vehicle sports is the next frontier in providing a superior experience for drivers and passengers.
This cooperation aims to lay the foundation for the evaluation of closer long-term cooperation with ClearMotion.
” Source: Porsche, the ClearMotion suspension system uses a combination of hardware (a small device containing motors and power electronics in each wheel compartment) and software to read the road ahead.
The startup says its suspension system can reduce the bumps in the car by about 75% compared with the best technology available.
In addition, ClearMotion will work with Porsche to verify its RoadMotion “road fingerprint recognition software”.
The software can collect road data, upload it to the cloud, and then stream the data back to the car to make driving more comfortable and help vehicles avoid obstacles such as potholes.
Anderson said: “what Porsche is really excited about is that they can provide excellent performance without sacrificing comfort.
” He revealed that the start-up will also announce partnerships with other automakers in the coming months.
ClearMotion also provided technology for the upcoming ET9 sedan, a contract signed by the two sides covering the entire life cycle of the model, covering 750000 vehicles.
