On June 20, 2024, Gothenburg, Sweden-Polestar Polar Star (Nasdaq: PSNY), a global luxury pure electric high-performance car brand, announced that H å kan Samuelsson would step down as chairman of the board.
Winfried Vahland (Van Ande) becomes the new chairman of the board and the new appointment will take effect after the company’s annual general meeting.

In addition to his leadership position, the engineer, who graduated from economics, served as CEO and President of Volkswagen Group (China) from 2005 to 2010, during which he achieved a turnaround through multi-vehicle strategy and cost reduction.
He served as CEO of Skoda Motor Company from 2010 to 2015 and successfully established Skoda’s future-oriented brand positioning, omni-directional model expansion and record sales performance.
He was a member of Volvo’s board of directors for five years before joining Polestar’s board of directors in January 2024.
Christine Gorjanc and Laura Shen were nominated as members of the new board of directors, and the new appointment will take effect after the company’s annual general meeting.
Christine Gorjanc has more than 35 years of experience in finance and accounting and has served as chief financial officer of Netgear and Arlo Technologies.
She has experience on the boards of both public and private companies, including as chairman of the audit committee and a member of the compensation committee, and she is the chief director of Juniper Network.
Christine will serve as Chairman of the Audit Committee of the Polestar Star Board.
Shen Xiaojie (Laura Shen), with more than 20 years of working experience in the automotive industry, joined Volkswagen Group (China) in 2007 as a vice president, and has served as a legal person and general manager of Volkswagen Group (China) sales company (including Bentley, Lamborghini and Volkswagen brand imported cars), group smart city project manager, Volkswagen brand sales and after-sales director in China, and dean of Volkswagen Institute.
