On May 20, Japanese bearing manufacturer NTN Corporation developed a new special heat treatment technology “HA-C”.
This technology achieves the industry’s highest level of high bearing load capacity and can replace bearings that are more compact and lighter than traditional bearings.
In addition, it also achieves high-temperature size stability, pollution resistance, lubrication and high wear resistance that are difficult to achieve with traditional heat treatment technologies, and contributes to miniaturization, lightweight and energy conservation of automotive drives, including electric drive axles (e-Axles) for electric vehicles (EVs).

In order to improve power and fuel efficiency, drives such as e-Axles and transmissions need to be more compact, at higher speeds, and increasingly use low-viscosity lubricants.
Therefore, automobiles need ball bearings that can achieve both high load carrying capacity and low friction.
In addition, rolling bearings also need to reduce the rate of change in size and the amount of wear due to increased heat generation and wear during high-speed rotation.
