Ningbo University develops ultra-low concentration electrolyte for lithium-ion batteries

Gashi Automotive News Lithium salt makes batteries powerful but expensive.

Ultra-low concentration electrolytes based on the lithium salt LiDFOB may be a more economical and sustainable alternative.

According to foreign media reports, a research team at Ningbo University and the University of Puerto Rico at Rio Piedras Campus has developed ultra-low concentration electrolytes and successfully proved that batteries using these electrolytes and traditional electrodes have high performance.

In addition, electrolytes can promote battery production and recycling.

Relevant research has been published in the journal Angewandte Chemie International Edition.

The main components of most lithium-ion batteries are lithium cobaltate (LCO) cathode, graphite anode and liquid electrolyte, providing mobile ions for decoupled cathode and anode reactions.
