Tesla has begun re-recruiting some members of the supercharging team, which was fired by CEO Elon Musk at the end of last month.
Nearly 500 members were fired.
According to people familiar with the matter, the highest-ranking person to be rehired is Max de Zegher, director of charging operations in North America.
He was one of the subordinates of Rebecca Tinucci, the senior director who was fired by Musk last month, when almost the entire charging team was laid off.
, it is not clear how many laid-off employees have been rehired.
“Tesla still plans to expand the supercharging network, but the expansion of the new location will slow down and will pay more attention to the 100% uptime and the expansion of the existing location,” Musk said on social media platform X some time ago.
Prior to this, Tesla laid off the charging team on a large scale, which also made many people worried about the future of the charging infrastructure in North America.
Data show that worldwide, Tesla has more than 6200 supercharging stations and 57000 charging guns.
Tesla’s supercharging network is the largest in the United States and has the widest range of influence.
Over the past year, Tesla has persuaded competitors to adopt its charging interface as an industry standard and has signed agreements with many of the world’s largest carmakers to open its super-charging network to users of those manufacturers.
