June European sales: BYD’s ranking rose rapidly, with many Chinese brands achieving triple-digit gains

New car sales in Europe rose 4 per cent in June from a year earlier, according to preliminary data from Dataforce, a market research firm.

Among them, Toyota and BMW have good sales performance in the European market by virtue of their successful electrification strategy, while the sales of car companies such as Tesla and Ford have fallen sharply.

BYD ranks among the top 35 European sales.

According to Dataforce, a total of nine carmakers have recorded triple-digit or higher percentage growth, including polar krypton, Xiaopeng, Lanto, Hongqi and Lutes, while Mitsubishi (up nearly 86 per cent year-on-year), Suzuki (up nearly 34 per cent) and Cupra (up nearly 32 per cent) also had strong sales performance.

Last month, Toyota brand sales in the European Union, European Free Trade Association (EFTA) countries and the UK rose 17.

3% year-on-year to 82282 vehicles, pushing it up to second place from third in the same period last year, surpassing the Renault brand.

Of this total, sales of the C-HR compact SUV surged 41 per cent year-on-year to 10688, while sales of the Yaris Cross mini SUV rose 27 per cent year-on-year to 18987, with hybrid versions accounting for 85 per cent and 99 per cent respectively.

In June, BMW’s sales in Europe rose 7.

9% to 68067 vehicles, pushing it up to fourth place from fifth in the same period last year, surpassing Audi.

The company’s best-selling model in Europe is the Atto 3, with sales up 276 per cent year-on-year.
