An official from the U.S. Department of Commerce told Reuters on September 23 that under a proposed rule to crack down on China software and hardware, General Motors and Ford Motor will need to stop importing cars from China.

Currently, the Buick Envision sold by General Motors in the United States and the Lincoln Nautilus sold by Ford in the United States are both assembled in China.
