According to the National Highway Network Planning (2013-2023), the main line of China’s national highway network is composed of “7 rays, 11 vertical lines and 18 horizontal lines” (referred to as “71118”), that is, 7 capital radiation, 11 north-south vertical lines and 18 east-west horizontal lines.

Earlier, Weilai and ideal just announced the results of its replacement of power stations and overcharging stations in the highway layout.

As of October 30th, Xilai has set up a total of 2602 power stations across the country, including 868 expressway stations, and has completed the layout of high-speed power conversion network in 12 major urban agglomerations with 7 vertical lines, 9 horizontal lines and 12 horizontal lines.

For example, GAC Energy cooperated with China Railway Construction to lay out the Southwest Expressway, and signed a cooperation framework agreement with Yuandao Communication Co., Ltd., which started cooperation on the construction of public charging stations on expressways in the second half of 2024.

Netizens’ suggestions have been paid attention to, and it can be predicted that as more and more car companies devote themselves to the construction of high-speed energy replenishment network, it will bring more abundant charging options and higher quality charging experience for the majority of electric vehicle owners.

At the same time, the relevant departments are also making active arrangements.

Earlier, a helpless new energy car owner from Hengyang City, Hunan Province, had suggested “increasing charging spaces in highway service areas”.

The netizen said that at present, the number of charging parking spaces in some highway service areas is insufficient, as long as the traffic flow in the high-speed service areas increases slightly, there are often long queues to charge, and disputes may occur as a result.

Therefore, it is suggested to increase the number of charging parking spaces in the high-speed service area.

The Ministry of Transport responded to the netizen’s proposal.

The Ministry of Transport said that various localities have been deployed to speed up the construction of charging infrastructure along the highway in accordance with the principle of “moderate advance”.

This year, we will promote the construction of charging facilities along the highway to be closer to the people’s livelihood, guide various localities to further optimize the layout of charging infrastructure in highway service areas, and continue to encrypt and optimize the layout of facilities, so as to better meet the needs of the development of electric vehicles.

It is reported that by the end of August 2024, a total of 28800 charging piles had been built in expressway service areas (including parking areas) across the country.

In view of the serious charging queue in some expressway service areas with large traffic flow, the Ministry of Transport is also urging localities to further speed up charging facilities, especially the construction of overcharging and fast charging facilities, at the same time, it also guides localities to appropriately introduce mobile charging facilities to meet the charging needs during peak hours, and strengthen information release and queuing guidance to guide the public to choose charging places reasonably.

The Ministry of Transport developed WeChat Mini Programs, the “e-road unblocked”, to provide the public with the “random check” service of highway charging facilities.

In addition, the smart car networking platform e-charging App of the State Grid is also making every effort to create a national charging “one network”, providing users with a high-speed charging network of ten horizontal and ten vertical rings, covering nearly 50,000 kilometers of highways, serving users’ charging needs for long-distance trips during holidays.

It is worth noting that the Ministry of Transport has vigorously promoted the adoption of high-power charging facilities in high-speed service areas, and the high-quality charging infrastructure represented by Huawei has continued to participate in the construction of a high-speed overcharging network.

For example, in August this year, Hubei Transportation Investment Group Co., Ltd. and Huawei Digital Energy to create a “high-speed integrated energy demonstration line” has been released.
