According to foreign media reports, since Tesla fired its entire super charging team, electric vehicle owners and auto company executives have been worried that this will affect the promotion of Tesla’s North American Charging Standard (NACS) adapters across the industry and The popularity of the Supercharger network has had an impact.
As of now, only Tesla, Ford and Rivian electric vehicles can use Tesla’s Super Charging Network (the fastest electric vehicle charging network in the United States).
But GM electric vehicle owners need not worry.
The company said it will connect to Tesla’s Super Charging Network as originally planned, which means that GM electric vehicle owners will be able to use Tesla’s charging piles in the near future.
Sanaz Marbley, GM’s director of global strategic technical communications, told the media: “We plan to follow the previously announced timetable.
That’s all I can say.
” Photo source: General Motors, GM’s previous plan was to connect its electric vehicles to Tesla’s charging network in the spring of 2024.
In this regard, Marbley said: “I think the spring of 2024 is accurate.
” The spring of 2024 will end on June 20.
So if GM is to make good on this promise, GM’s Bolt, Blazer EV, Equinox EV, Silverado EV, Hummer EV and Lyriq should be able to use the Tesla charging network within the next three weeks.
This is good news for GM electric vehicle owners.
Due to affordable prices, GM’s Bolt and Equinox EVs are highly available in the U.S. market.
However, due to the slow charging speed of the Bolt, the benefits of connecting to the Tesla charging network are limited, but at least it ensures that Bolt owners can find more “fast” charging stations.
For Equinox EV, connecting to Tesla’s Supercharging Network may make this very excellent electric vehicle the main choice for price-sensitive consumers.
GM said it will share more information in the short term.
Judging from the current situation, the crazy layoffs at Tesla headquarters have not stopped the entire industry from moving closer to the most reliable fast-charging network in the United States.
