Among them, the first round of layoffs will begin on November 18, including the temporary dismissal of 686 full-time employees and 250 temporary workers.

GM said in the filing that the first production shift at the Fairfax plant will last until January.
At that time, the factory will also suspend production of the Cadillac XT4 compact crossover.
Subsequently, the factory will be renovated and will produce the next generation Chevrolet Bolt EV and gasoline version XT4 models in the future.

In May this year, the automaker said the plant would resume production later in 2025.
A GM spokesman said in a statement,”To facilitate the installation of new tools, employees at the (Fairfax plant) will be temporarily dismissed until production resumes in mid-2025, and affected employees will receive support under the terms of the agreement between the UAW and GM.
” When production resumes in 2025, the Fairfax plant will produce new Bolt EV models.
