According to an internal email sent by Ford last week seen by Reuters, Ford is trying to get more executives to buy its electric cars.
Ford Motor Co.
, based in Dearborn, Michigan, adjusted its rental program to eligible current and former executives.
Now, if these managers want to rent additional vehicles, they must order a Mustang Mach-E electric SUV or Fmai 150 Lightning electric pickup truck.
According to the employee’s management level, employees are usually allowed to lease a certain number of vehicles, usually one or two, before ordering additional vehicles.
At the same time, Ford said in an email that if employees are driving a supplementary rental vehicle that is different from the two electric vehicles designated by Ford, they must return the vehicle or choose to buy it by May 15, 2025.
This is the first time Ford has required employees to buy electric vehicles under its supplementary leasing program, a Ford spokesman said.
A spokesman for the company said: “Ford encourages employees to drive electric cars through this optional program so that employees can experience the convenience of electric vehicles and better share their experiences with friends and relatives.
This is a key way to increase people’s familiarity with new technologies.
” Ford has thousands of executives, but Ford did not say how many will be directly affected by the policy change.
Electric cars leased by Ford executives will also be counted directly in Ford’s sales figures.
Sales of the Ford Fmur150 Lightning were slower than Jim Farley, Ford’s chief executive, initially predicted.
Ford halved production of the electric truck earlier this year after twice expanding capacity at the Fmur150 Lightning plant and increasing third shifts.
Farley initially expected the Fmuri 150 Lightning plant to produce 150000 vehicles a year.
Over the past year, however, Ford has had to adjust that goal.
In 2023, Ford sold about 24000 Fmur150 Lightning electric pickup trucks and about 41000 Mustang Mach-E electric SUV.
Ford Motor Co., Ltd., Ford Motor, the price of the 2024 Mustang Mach-E.
has been cut several times since the beginning of 2023 to stimulate market demand, while responding to the price reduction offensive of Tesla, the leader of electric vehicles.
At present, although the growth rate of electric vehicles has slowed down, the demand for hybrid vehicles has increased sharply.
In 2023, Ford hybrid sales grew by 25.
3% year-on-year, outpacing the 17.
9% year-on-year growth in electric vehicle sales.
Farley has increasingly emphasized the importance of hybrid vehicle production in recent months, saying that hybrid vehicles will be an important part of Ford’s product portfolio for the foreseeable future.
