On June 10, according to media reports, Ford Motor Company has recently made important adjustments to its electrification strategy.
It plans to launch a hybrid version for all its fuel-powered models by 2030 and postponed the launch of some electric vehicles.
Ford CEO Jim Farley emphasized that hybrid vehicles are now a more profitable option and expects sales to quadruple in the next few years.
, Amid the wave of electrification transformation in the global automotive industry, Ford’s strategic adjustment includes issuing initiatives to suppliers to reduce production costs.
In an internal memorandum, Ford Chief Supply Chain Officer Liz Door called on suppliers to propose cost-cutting proposals to support the launch of a number of electric vehicles including the F-150 Lightning pickup truck, the next-generation P800 electric pickup truck, the Mustang Mach E, the E-Transit freight truck and the large electric SUV.
Ford is asking suppliers to provide “incremental cost reduction recommendations” for these current and upcoming electric vehicles.
, This measure is a direct response to a multi-billion-dollar loss in the company’s electric vehicle business in the first quarter of this year.
, According to Ford’s earnings forecast, it is expected that the loss from the electric vehicle business will increase to approximately US$5.
5 billion by the end of this year.
Through these strategic adjustments, Ford Motor Company is seeking to maintain financial health and market competitiveness during the transition to electrification, while providing consumers with more diversified environmentally friendly vehicle options.
