Ford Motor applies for new patent. Future electric vehicles may adopt dual-zone climate control front-case

According to foreign media reports, Ford Motor Company has applied for a patent with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) for a dual-zone climate control front box (frunk) that may be used in future Ford electric vehicles.

The patent was filed on March 3, 2023 and published on September 5, 2024.

The serial number is 0292815.

, As early as December 2023, Ford announced a patent for a climate-control front box designed for pure electric vehicles.

The patent is very meaningful because it can provide users with many additional functions, such as using the front box at tailgate parties.

The front box is used as a beverage cooler or when transporting refrigerated goods such as food.

However, sometimes people may have to transport items that need to be stored at different temperatures, in which case this dual-zone climate control front box can come in handy.

, According to the patent, this climate management system for vehicle compartments includes a partition selectively placed inside the compartment that divides the compartment into two areas based on its connection to the compartment wall.

The system also includes a sensor for monitoring the car, capable of detecting partitions inside the car.

In addition, the system also includes at least one fluid connection and at least one brake for controlling the flow of fluid in the connection.

The system also includes a control circuit in communication with the sensor and the at least one brake, the circuit configured to deliver a signal to adjust the actuator based on detection of the diaphragm.
