Fisker’s Austrian subsidiary opens bankruptcy proceedings

According to foreign media reports, the Austrian branch of electric car manufacturer Fisker filed for bankruptcy protection on May 7.

After the collapse of potential investment negotiations with a large carmaker, the cash-strapped electric vehicle start-up is looking for other strategic options.

Fisker GmbH, an Austrian subsidiary of Fisker, said that other divisions of the company were not included in the restructuring and would continue to operate normally.

Fisker has been under pressure since it issued a continuing business warning in February.

In the severe economic situation, Fisker is facing fierce competition and the decline of customer consumption power.

A spokesman for Fisker,Fisker said in an emailed statement: “by applying to initiate a self-managed restructuring process, Fisker Austria has been given breathing space to protect its business while conducting strategic transactions or other asset sales that maximize value.

Fisker will continue its efforts to explore all available options to maximize the value of its global business.

” Fisker said the branch would continue to pay its employees and continue to sell and repair cars in Austria.

On April 23rd Fisker said it might have to file for bankruptcy protection within 30 days if it did not receive sufficient relief and liquidity from creditors to meet its current debt obligations.
