On June 11, Silicon Mobility, Intel’s automotive semiconductor and software control solutions supplier, announced the launch of the OLEA® U310 field programmable control unit (FPCU), further complementing its next-generation OLEA FPCU series.
Image source: Xinli Energy, the new OLEA U310 integrates the functions of multiple traditional microcontrollers into a single system-on-chip (SoC), bringing significant advantages to electric vehicle manufacturers and consumers.
An industry first, it replaces up to six independent microcontrollers, while providing real-time control of a variety of different power and energy functions, and ensuring maximum security integrity and future tested cybersecurity features.
With its unique design, original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) are able to move away from the conventions of control in the electric vehicle space and move to highly integrated all-in-one powertrain that delivers unmatched system performance.
This will help make electric vehicles more energy efficient, lighter and ultimately more cost-effective, accelerating their global adoption.
