Jiangsu / Shanghai, China, October 23, 2024.
The 2024 Continental Group Technology experience Day with the theme of “China’s innovative Wisdom, go to a better Future” was held in Gaoyou, Jiangsu Province.
In this event, through more than 10 locally developed technology demonstration vehicles and many innovative exhibits, the Continental Group demonstrated to customers and the media its innovative achievements and forward-looking technologies in the four major areas of self-driving systems, future-oriented braking systems, software-defined vehicles and on-board display technology.
At present, with the rapid development of China’s automobile market and the increasing consumer demand for mobile travel, Continental Group continues to deepen its localization strategy.
committed to using innovative technology to create a safer, more enjoyable, smarter and more sustainable driving experience. Mr. Tang, President and CEO of Continental Group China, said, “in addition, we are constantly strengthening the R & D and landing of forward-looking technologies and solutions in the Chinese market, with faster speed, better products and better services.
To meet the growing needs of the Chinese market and customers.
On this technology day, Continental Group demonstrated its collaborative self-driving development test vehicle, which uses new road application scenarios such as vehicle-road coordination, vehicle-vehicle coordination and so on.
It shows how to know in advance the static or dynamic vehicle and pedestrian information at road intersections and front sections through the interaction between vehicles and infrastructure, and between vehicles and vehicles.
The above application scenario contains test cases for C-V2X in C-NCAP 2024, fully illustrating the importance of this feature for security.
Different from the early warning display in the conventional C-V2X test, the car achieves optimal traffic through linkage with the autopilot function in these scenarios, taking into account the safety, high efficiency and comfort of intelligent driving.
These demonstration scenarios organically constitute the use case combination of the collaborative adaptive cruise function C-ACC (Cooperative ACC).
At the same time, Continental Group also demonstrated its intelligent driving system solution built by the Horizon joint venture, Zhijia Continental, according to the needs of the local market, which does not rely on high-precision maps, can achieve L2 + parking integrated full scene coverage, and supports lightweight urban NOA, high-speed NOA, memory parking HPA and intelligent parking APA functions.
The system solution is equipped with 11 smart cameras, 1 forward millimeter wave radar and an intelligent driving domain controller based on Horizon Expedition 6 solution.
Compared with the middle-level smart driving scheme that has been mass-produced on the market, it increases the number of weekly cameras, expands the perceptual coverage, improves the perceptual distance and accuracy, and provides a full-scene, non-breakpoint NOA smart driving experience.
compared with the high-level smart driving scheme, the elimination of lidar greatly improves the performance-to-price ratio while ensuring the system performance, and provides mainframe factory customers with highly competitive smart driving products.
For the future braking system, Continental Group’s Future braking system (FBS) development roadmap from FBS 0 to FBS 3 shows the transformation from a traditional hydraulic braking system to a complete “dry” braking system.
This shift not only involves technological advances, but also heralds changes in automotive architecture to meet the needs of self-driving, electrification and digitization.
The FBS 3 brake system will completely eliminate the hydraulic system and brake fluid, achieving electromechanical drive of all four wheels and achieving complete “dry” braking.
On this technical day, Continental Group demonstrated the EMB electro-mechanical braking system for the first time, which is equipped with EMB electro-mechanical braking system, including brake controller, electronic pedal simulator and electronic calipers.
The system has a standard signal interface to the whole vehicle, and the mass production project can be controlled by the chassis domain controller or area controller or the central dynamic control software in the high performance computing unit (HPC).
The biggest difference between EMB and traditional hydraulic braking system is that it has no brake fluid, is green and can reduce the assembly cost of the production line of the main engine factory and the maintenance cost of the end customer.
Due to the use of complete electrical control, the response speed of the braking system is fast and the anti-lock braking (ABS) is smoother.
At the same time, the system has low delay, which can increase vehicle mileage and reduce particulate matter emissions.
and the four wheels are redundant each other in the EMB system, which has a better safety guarantee.
The technology also demonstrated the off-road turning assist function (OCA) of the braking system, which uses an intelligent control system to reduce the turning radius of the vehicle on unpaved roads and improve the flexibility and maneuverability of the vehicle on narrow or winding roads.
When the driver activates the OCA function, the braking system will provide additional yaw torque assistance to reduce the turning radius, control the wheel slip rate, optimize turning traction, while avoiding excessive wheel skidding and ensuring safety.
Software-defined vehicle solutions, software-defined vehicles (SDV) are subverting the development of the automotive market.
On this Technology Day, Continental demonstrated its strength in the field of software-defined vehicles through cross-domain solutions, central dynamic control software, SOA middleware solutions, and regional controllers.
The cross-domain solution demonstration vehicle integrates a high-performance computing unit for vehicle control, and is equipped with central dynamic control software and portable chassis control functions.
Through the vehicle control high performance computing unit of Continental Group, the upward chassis function can be deployed across domains with the traditional body control and vehicle gateway functions, and through dynamic experiments, evaluate the performance of the chassis up function and the cross-domain compatibility of the chassis performance.
Continental Group’s Central dynamic Control Software (HMC) is a unified software solution independent of actuators and independent of hardware carriers.
It uses the method of integrated stability control to decouple the driving functions of all vehicles (manual, auxiliary and automatic driving) from the hardware configuration of the vehicle.
In line with the trend of software-defined cars, it provides end-users with driving fun, and continuously promotes the innovation and upgrading of software functions throughout the life cycle of the vehicle while maintaining the highest safety.
In addition, Continental demonstrated a scalable, flexible, and cost-optimized SOA middleware solution based on the open source ecology.
Continental Group’s SOA middleware solution has two innovations: first, the unified middleware communication architecture solves real-time partitioning (Real-time Partition, MCU) and performance partitioning (Performance Partition, S o C) on different chips.
Second, the deployment method based on lightweight container technology can realize the rapid integration and deployment of SOA services and applications on different target hardware development at one time, and support multiple SOA protocols.
In addition, Continental also demonstrated an area controller solution, a key technology for software-defined vehicle landing.
As a leading supplier of regional controllers, Continental will be launched in mass production at a mainstream domestic OEMs in 2024.
, Innovative in-vehicle display technology subverts traditional cockpit design.
Continental Group demonstrated a user experience demonstration car built by a local R & D team.
The demonstration car subverts traditional cockpit design and combines panoramic head-up displays, wide-field zoom augmented reality head-up displays and Ruiyin Display (In2visible Display) technology is perfectly integrated into the cockpit, bringing a pleasant and integrated user experience to the driver and passengers, while bringing greater freedom to the cockpit interior design.
, The panoramic head-up display replaces traditional instruments, central control panels and passenger screens.
Unlike previous heads-up displays, the panoramic heads-up display does not project the display content onto the transparent area of the windshield.
Instead, it projects information important to the driver with high quality onto the lower edge of the windshield with extremely high brightness.
Special black printed coated areas to achieve a clear image across the entire windshield.
The large-field zoom augmented reality head-up display with a 12° * 4° field of view complements the information of the panoramic head-up display, adding auxiliary driving information (such as lane deviations, attractions along the way, adaptive navigation information, etc.
) When it needs to be displayed, it is displayed in the form of augmented reality and at an angle that conforms to the road surface.
The 12° * 4° field of view achieves a perfect depth of field.
The In2visible Display is used as the control screen and uses Continental Group’s Rui Yin display technology.
One of its major features is that the screen can only be seen when needed.
The display and control of the screen are activated when the hand approaches it.
The display can also be activated through voice control or by briefly clicking on the surface of the screen.
