As Yin Tongyue joked, every year at the innovation conference, he has a ‘brag’ indicator.

Last year, Yin Tongyue waved his arms and shouted, “Chery New Energy is going to be impolite.

” At that time, many people thought that it was nothing more than shouting slogans on the boss’s stage and dealing with “ah, right, right, right” at the bottom.

Unexpectedly, Chery New Energy is at full power this year, with electric mixers as a breakthrough, its monthly sales have soared from 30,000, 40,000 and 50,000 to nearly 60,000 vehicles in September.

Fengyun A8, Fengyun T9 and Fengyun T10 competed directly with BYD Qin and Song, while Shanhai T2 aimed at the off-road market of the Great Wall.

Yin Tongyue was full of confidence and directly set the target of 100000 new energy vehicles at the end of the year.

Chery divides Kunpeng into three series: square lithium iron phosphate series with an energy density of 120-160Wh/kg, pure electric range of 200-600km, pure electric range of 100-200km, square ternary series, energy density of 140-200Wh/kg, pure electric life of 600-800km, pure electric life of 150-300km Large cylindrical ternary series: the energy density is 140km-240Wh/kg, the pure electric range is 700km-1200km, the pure electric range of plug-in and extended range is 150km-300km, the Kunpeng battery can support 6C fast charging, charging for 5 minutes, the range can be increased by 400km.

And the cycle life of the battery is very long, which can exceed 3000 times, which is much higher than the 1500 times life of the general power battery.

If the above can quickly land on the bus, it will already be as efficient as Wang Fei’s research and development.

But Chery probably thought it wasn’t enough, so it left the solid-state battery at the end of the part.

Chery did not play word games, but directly used the “all-solid-state battery” and gave a clear time point: get on the bus in 2026.

The pure electric mileage is expected to reach 1500km, which is a number that scares all the media friends who measure the range.

The solid-state battery has made a lot of appearances this year.

The price of the solid-state battery version of Zhiji L6 Lightyear is 345900, which is 40, 000 more expensive than the super-high-performance version and 70, 000 more expensive than the ultra-long-range version that can run 850km under CLTC operating conditions.

And because there is a lot of room for explanation in the concept of solid-state battery, it can become the most topical page in the manufacturer’s PPT.

But the difficulty of solid-state batteries is the degree to which the industry’s big brother Ningde shook his head.

Zeng Yuqun, chairman of Ningde Times, said bluntly that he had been studying in the field of solid-state batteries for 14 years, but it was still difficult to solve basic problems such as solid-state ion diffusion.

The oxide route, sulfide route and polymer route, which are all being studied, can not reach the end point of mass production.

In public this year, he repeatedly reiterated his judgment on solid-state batteries: “solid-state batteries are still a long way from commercialization.

” In an interview with foreign media, he also expressed his concern about solid-state batteries at this stage as “there are many difficulties”, “short battery life and the risk of rupture in a car accident”.

In fact, Ningde era launched condensed batteries as early as April 2023 for the development of civil electric manned aircraft projects, when the energy density was already up to 500Wh/kg.

If you have no idea of this number I can give you two examples: lithium iron phosphate batteries generally have an energy density between 100-160Wh/kg and ternary lithium batteries between 150-350Wh/kg.

Solid state batteries, on the other hand, are between 400 and 900Wh/kg.

From the numbers, you can see the gap between the three.

The semi-solid colloid electrolyte in condensed battery can ensure the conduction function of lithium ion and improve safety and avoid thermal runaway by reducing fluidity.

You might want to say: doesn’t that sound good? Why don’t you get in the car and give it to us? However, the electrolyte material, electrode structure and production process of this kind of semi-solid battery are far from reaching the standard of solid-state battery, it is only close in performance, but it is still far from being in structure and principle.

The all-solid-state battery requires the complete elimination of the liquid electrolyte, but at the same time, because the liquid wraps the electrode better than the solid-state, the challenge of the all-solid-state battery is that after all the electrolytes are replaced by solid-state electrolytes, the original liquid electrolyte can wrap the electrode well, but it is not easy to maintain long-term stable contact between the solid electrolyte and the electrode.

As a result, the ionic conductivity is 1-2 orders of magnitude lower than that of the liquid electrolyte, the interface impedance between the solid electrolyte and the electrode is too high, and the internal resistance of the battery is obvious.

In addition, the electrodes of solid-state batteries expand and contract during charge and discharge, and the rupture or separation of electrolytes will also increase the above problems.

At present, none of these questions can be answered, so, such as Toyota, Volkswagen and BMW have pushed the mass production of all-solid-state batteries to after 2027, which is also a helpless move after repeatedly failing to achieve results.

Since Chery did not disclose too many specific parameters about solid-state batteries at this press conference, we have no way to make a specific analysis.

However, Chery dares to bring PPT up this time, obviously has sufficient confidence in this mass production time.

But in addition to the difficulty, the cost of getting on the bus with solid-state batteries is still extremely high.

For example, the semi-solid soft package cell developed by ET7 and Weilan New Energy Co., Ltd., the energy density of single cell is as high as 360Wh/kg, it is equipped with a 140-kWh semi-solid battery, and the cost is said to be the price of an ET5.

, This part of the cost will eventually become part of our car purchase.

, For most people, the marginal effect of pure electric battery life after 800 kilometers is also obvious.

Ultra-fast charging can solve the anxiety of battery life under certain circumstances.

To buy a car worth 300,000 yuan, I have to add an extra 50,000 yuan to a battery, but at least I am not willing to.
