According to “Automotive News”, automaker Stellantis laid off nearly 200 people at its Sterling Heights assembly plant in the suburbs of Detroit, USA.

The company said the additional employees were hired seasonally to fill vacancies created by employees ‘summer vacations.
According to an agreement reached between Stellantis and the United Automobile Workers (UAW) in 2023, the layoffs for temporary workers will take effect on October 1, while the layoffs for full-time employees will take effect on September 28.
Stellantis said in a statement,”Stellantis is working fully to execute the contract and does its best to protect the company from the continued tight external market environment while providing consumers with cars that they can afford.
” As a result, we will continue to take necessary actions to improve the operating conditions of all plants, including continuous evaluation of our production processes to increase efficiency.
At the same time, the company will implement indefinite layoffs for employees within its business scope.
